Dell Inspiron Mini IM10-2865 10.1-Inch Promise Pink Netbook

A larger sibling to Dell's Inspiron Mini 9, the Inspiron Mini 10 in promise pink adds keyboard comfort and even more entertainment-friendly dimensions to the Inspiron Mini family. Like the Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12, the Mini 10 is a compact, easy-to-carry Internet companion that's ideal for teens, tweens, travelers and "Tweeters" to surf the Web, chat with friends (both via text and using the integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam), stream video and audiocontent, and upload on-the-go photos to blogs or social networking sites. Standard built-in Wi-Fi means quick and easy wireless internet access to hotspots in the home, on campus, in a local coffee shop, in the office or at a conference.

Super thin and ultra-portable, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 weighs in at just 2.6 pounds.
The Inspiron Mini 10 features an intuitive Dell-developed custom home screen interface that is designed to make it easy to find what you're looking for. Intuitive icons link directly to groups of similar applications, like games, Web and entertainment, and favorite web links for quick access. Plus, the home screen can be personalized, putting your favorites front and center.

A bright 10.1-inch display is designed to be able to present web sites without a lot of left-right scrolling, and the 92-percent full-size keyboard is large and easy to navigate. An HDMI port also allows you to connect the Mini 10 to your HDTV for large-screen, high-def viewing. Other features include a 160 GB hard drive, 1 GB of RAM (533 MHz; maximum capacity), integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, three USB ports, 3-in-1 memory card reader, and up to 3 hours of battery life.

Offering a range of bright color options, the Inspiron Mini 10 is a great travel companion.
It comes preinstalled with the Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system, which offers more experienced users an enhanced and innovative experience that incorporates Windows Live features like Windows Live Messenger for instant messaging and Windows Live Mail for consolidated email accounts on your desktop.

A Better Keyboard
You won't lose any flexibility with the Mini 10's keyboard. At 92 percent the size of a standard laptop, it's almost as if the Mini 10's keyboard is at full range. And with a multi-touch track pad, your fingers will have an easy time navigating. Plus, it's spill resistant, so you can rest assured if accidents happen.

Display and Audio
The Inspiron Mini 10 has a 10.1-inch LCD screen (1024 x 576; WSVGA) with TrueLife high-gloss/anti-reflective technology, which features a sharp contrast finish that's well suited to immersive 3D games and watching videos. Its widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio is designed to present websites without lots of left-right scrolling, as well as with a smoother line of sight. Expand your screen by connecting to an external monitor or TV using the HDMI port. This notebook has two speakers for stereo sound.

Spec Check
1.3 GHz GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor
  • 160 GB hard drive
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 54g Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)
  • Windows XP Home
  • 3-cell battery
  • Up to 3 hours of battery life
  • Weighs 2.6 pounds
Power-Sipping Processor
Newly designed from the ground up, the Intel Atom Z520 uses a 45nm (nanometer) design structure with new hafnium-infused circuitry--which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors--to conserve even more energy and give you more time away from the wall outlet. The Intel Atom Z520 provides a 1.3 GHz CPU speed with a 533 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and 512 KB L2 cache--which uses just 2 watts of power. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.) It supports Intel's 64-bit computing architecture, which can allow the use of extended virtual and physical memory with compatible 64-bit software, as well as Intel's Hyper-Threading technology for speedier multitasking.

Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
This notebook has an integrated 54g wireless LAN that's fully compatible with 802.11b/g wireless networks. With the integrated Bluetooth connectivity, you can communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and cell phones as well as use Bluetooth-enabled headsets for handsfree video chats. It comes with the following external connectors:

  • 3 USB 2.0 ports (1 powered) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
  • 1 HDMI output (for connecting to a compatible HDTV or home theater receiver for uncompressed digital audio and video via a single cable)
  • Analog video output: None
  • 10/100 Fast Ethernet networking
  • 1 headphone (line-out) and 1 microphone (line-in)
  • 3-in-1 memory card reader compatible with Secure Digital (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC), Multimedia Card (MMC), and Memory Stick

The IM10's ports in profile, on the right: audio jacks (line-out, mic in), HDMI, two USB, Ethernet.

On the left side: Kensington lock, power adapter port, USB, 3-in-1 memory card reader.
Dimensions
This laptop measures 10.28 x 7.2 x 1.1 inches and weighs 2.6 pounds.

Customer Review: High-res screen
High res good for detail level and bad for black levels. Comes with bulky 6 cell. Keyboard excellent.
Customer Review: Not a bad computer.
Dell Inspiron Mini IM10-2861 10.1-Inch Alpine White Netbook. Got this for my daughter for her birthday. The free shipping was the worst. We have bought other things on Amazon with free shipping and have never had a problem. This took almost two weeks to get here! Besides that, this is a good computer for small things. You cant watch videos, but to check emails, etc. it's good. The touch pad is hard to use. If you are not expecting alot out of a laptop, buy this.

Philips-HTS3566D - Home theater system with iPod cradle - 5.1 channel

Indulge in an unbeatable home cinema experience with this system. Delivering incredible surround sound and clear pictures via HDMI 1080p upscaling, it also plays from virtually any type of disc and from USB drives and portable media players.
Customer Review: Good System for the Price
I didn't buy this through Amazon, but rather through my local membership-only retailer. That said, the price is roughly comparable and regardless, the system is REMARKABLE. The sound is clear, the volume LOUD, and the quality exceptional. The only things I would change with the system are thus: - Proprietary jacks are lame. I have an oddly shaped room, and the rear left speaker's wire was far FAR too short to reach to where I needed it too. I butt-spliced some 22-gauge wire into the cable and it works fine, but that I had to and didn't have the option to just use another cable wholesale was obnoxious. - All speakers save the central one have only a single hanging peg, and that is annoying if they hang anywhere in reach - even tapping them lightly can push them significantly off-center. A small nail hidden in the assembly screw-well resolved the issue, but isn't super clean. - Boot time is LOOOOONG, and sometimes when switching to USB-mode from anything other than Disc-mode it doesn't load correctly. Disc > USB almost always works, though, but it's a matter of waiting longer than I'd like. - Controls via the remote to the iPod dock are severely limited. Other that those nit-picks, the system is great. Well worth it for an entry-level system, and an excellent upgrade over the built-in speakers on my TV.
Customer Review: Why are we getting the lemons???
We purchased this home theater system right after Christmas. The first one arrived and we hooked it up and .... nothing. No sound whatsoever. Called Philips and they went through all the steps to make sure we had hooked it up right (which we had) and after about an hour they said they would send out another one. Second one arrived, hooked it up and the sound was great....but the DVD player wouldn't play. Called again. Went through everything again. Third one arrived about two weeks later. Hooked it up, sounded great, DVD player worked - happy right? Yes, for about one week and then nothing... no sound at all. Now the DVD player won't open so we can get our movie out! Are we just jinxed or is there something really wrong here? Also, now we have three systems sitting in our house and none of them work and we have to haul them to the post office to return them. Now what I want to know is .. Why would Philips send us out two more systems without us even having to return the ones we had? Makes me wonder if they get these calls all the time and are just throwing them out to people hoping they'll stick. Needless to say we're returning all of them and looking for something else.

Customer Review: good, but DVD is noisy
great design, easy installation, quite good picture, but the DVD is disturbingly noisy when watching a movie. It can be heard despite the sound of the movie.
Customer Review: Great picture for price
I've had this TV for almost 4 months and am very happy with it. The Picture is great for the price, with very vibrant colors and contrasts. The blacks are not as dark as you can find on more expensive TVs, but are as good as you can find in this price range. The DVD is noisy, which is really unfortunate. The Speakers are ok, but nothing great. I'd highly recommend this TV if you are looking for a TV that you will output sound to a stereo receiver. I actually found this at a price less expensive than the model without the built-in DVD player! Also, the high number of HDMI and other inputs is really fantastic. I do not regret this purchase at all!

Customer Review: Investing in your entertainment
Got this at a great price. Free shipping. Ordered on Sun. Got it on Thursday. Best video ever. So sharp and clean, colors are brillant. Gaming on Xbox 360 fast and on the PS3, its the best gaming ever. Going to 1080p, is like going from 800x600 to 1920x1200. Its so much fun to watch tv in HD. And the bluray, is the most incredible imaging. I recommend this tv to anyone who is looking at HD. Easy to set up. One thing it doesn't have, is Picture in Picture. Otherwise, best tv I have seen yet. Sony hasn't even released their 240 hz tv's yet. Toshiba beat them on price and speed. Nate Stephens Kearney, Nebraska

Customer Review: It works and it is pretty cool!
Bought these so we could play movies and TV shows from the Computer directly on the TV without having to burn onto a CD. You need a converter cable if your computer doesn't have an RCA hook up and it took us an hour or two to figure out that we needed to upgrade the graphics card and put the right dual display settings on the monitor but once we figured it out, it worked perfectly - both audio and video. The picture loses a little quality and sometimes the size of the movie/TV show doesn't take up the whole TV screen but it is pretty cool to watch anything from the computer on any TV in the house in real time. It is instant gratification.
Customer Review: WiFi Savior!
I was using a 2.4Ghz transmitter/receiver but I had to turn off the transmitter every time a started my computer or I would be unable to connect to my WAN. The 5.8Ghz ended that frustration. I do have a 5.8Ghz cordless phone that occasionally switches channels and totally blocks the signal. Solution - pick up phone and hit channel button - much easier than turning off the transmitter and rebooting the computer.
